Belize Connection Is Your Gateway To A Great Vacation

By Mamie Conrad

While it is little-known, Belize deserves to achieve much greater fame. As a country offering both adventure trips and simple, relaxing enjoyment of nature, this country has it all. For this reason, Belize Connection is delighted to help fellow citizens of the USA become better acquainted with this small country with a big heart.

Because it is situated right on the Caribbean, the climate is wonderfully warm and pleasant all year round. While tropical storms can sometimes be a problem in the area, being situated on the mainland also offers a degree of protection. These storms are seasonal, and simply choosing the best time of the year lets the visitor escape any of the effects.

It is possible to experience a variety of the wildlife and other attractions at the many international-standard resorts situated throughout the country. This country offers the quintessential South American jungle experience together with the warm, safe waters of the Caribbean with excellent visibility being the norm. Even the lowest grade resorts offer friendly, helpful service: friendliness and helpfulness are probably the two most dominant characteristics of the people of this country.

This country offers a unique combination of many different cultural influences. There is a strong Latino feel, tempered by a long British colonial past. In addition there are other European and Eastern influences. An advantage is that English is an official language and is understood everywhere, making this by far the easiest Latin American country to tour for North Americans.

A number of superb coral reefs offer excellent diving, including a World Heritage coral atoll at Glover Reef. This is probably one of the best destinations for snorkeling and diving anywhere in the world. Just the fabulous dive sites would be enough to justify a visit. Add to this other water sports such as sailing over sandy bottoms on the crystal seas or even just swimming in the warm tropical water and this becomes an ideal destination for water-sports enthusiasts. Good fishing is also readily available.

People seeking the delights of nature will be able to see a number of colorful tropical bird species as well as many different types of monkeys and other mammals. There is even a jaguar sanctuary for this endangered species. Reptiles such as caiman and fascinating butterflies and other insects complete the line-up. The variety of wildlife is increased by a number of different ecological niches such as swamps in the lowlands, ranging through tropical forests and right up to mountain uplands, each with its own wildlife species. Bow hunters and shotgun enthusiasts will find limited but excellent hunting as well, although jaguars are protected.

For visitors more interested in the fascinating history of the region, the many ancient Mayan ruins will have a strong appeal. They are largely unexcavated, and much is still waiting to be discovered. These often-enigmatic structures hint at how far civilizations can fall from a previously lofty pinnacle.

For those visitors who just like to tour and see the world, the fabulous mix of tasty cuisines adds richness to the experience. Being only a reasonably short trip by air from the States and with comfortable accommodation readily available, Belize Connection offers great ways to experience Latin America without the discomforts. This is also rated as one of the ten best countries for American retirees.
