We All Need A Spiritual Awakening Some Time In Life

By Jessie Folson

The definition of spirituality is and may always remain somewhat sparse. It is always evolving. Always changing to encompass new ideas and new age philosophies. But the truth remains that every human being is at some stage in his or her life in need of some kind of a spiritual awakening.

As babies we are born into a world. That world is someone elses world view. We are grow up with that perspective until we one day develop our own world view. Yet even this is shaped, or molded by what we are exposed to by our parents, teachers, peers and the media.

We could go on like this, living according to the doctrines we are taught in Sunday school, religious books, primary educators. We may be very happy, stable and secure. But we would still be blinded by conformity. We will never know anything different, yet there is a whole world of possibilities out there.

There are so many different religious doctrines, philosophies and schools of thought that have perused this thing we call life. Many have tried to demystify human existence. And each theory is without a doubt very interesting and worth exploring.

How unlucky for those who never get to explore these possibilities. They may be missing something truly amazing. In each philosophy, divine book and teaching, there lie many gems. For every doubtful word or untruth or fictional tale, there are many more pure ideas and useful guidelines for healthy holistic living.

A spiritual awakening may then be defined as a moment of realization. It may be a moment when one realizes that he has been living a lie and needs to change. It may a split second when a person sees truth and clarity in his life's purpose for the first time. When everything makes sense.

For some it may be a life changing moment that brings on such an experience. It may be a car accident or a tragedy that makes him or her realize the meaning of life and the importance of making every moment count. Some may argue that it can only come about with knowledge, searching and eventually breaking free from the matrix.

From any angle, each person is in need of his or her own spiritual awakening to find true purpose and meaning to life. It is essential that we lift the blinkers on our eyes and see with certainty for ourselves rather than swallow indoctrination by scholars. For what do we teach out children and what legacy do we leave if our own lives do not make any sense to us.
