Protection From Emp

By James M. Bowser

Protecting your electrical devices from an EMP attack means you will have to safeguard them from the effects of electromagnetic pulse. Being the victim of a nuclear, or non-nuclear EMP attack from a hostile country is a real threat.Following the detonation of a nuclear bomb from 25 to 250 miles above the horizon line, the magnetic field lines of the earth would be disrupted by a massive pulse of x-rays and gamma radiation-containing photons. Electrons trapped in the field lines of the earth would cause a dangerous fluctuating electric current capable of disabling electronic equipment.

People at home in their houses should have a safe, perhaps with an inner lining of these materials to park their electronics at night. Back up hard drives for important financial institutions, government operations, emergency services, military operations should be stored in rooms, which are underground and lined with these materials.

The Graham Commission recommends storing electrical grid components and any hard to make devices that are necessary to keep our infrastructure working.US citizens are not prepared for an EMP attack. Most people do not have more than three days-worth of food and water stored. Many do not have batteries on hand for flashlights, radios or other equipment for any length of time. Most people have no idea what an EMP attack is and how it could affect them.

Think for a moment about the inherent dangers associated with microwave ovens and the consequences if they are not properly constructed. With this idea in mind it would make perfect sense to use a microwave as a potential means of protecting our small electronic items. The microwave oven will make an excellent shield to prevent those pulses from damaging our devices.

To begin this project you will first need to measure your equipment in order to determine a rough calculation regarding the size enclosure which you will need. Keep in mind that you may wish to store more than one item in your oven safe such as a laptop computer, flash drives, USB hard drives or cell phones. You will want to locate your EMP oven near a cold water pipe to provide an effective ground connection. We will eventually solder a copper grounding strip to this pipe to ensure maximum protection in the event of an EMP issue.

Batteries.Lithium batteries can last up to 15 years and are your best bet when it comes to stocking batteries in case of EMP attack. You should wrap your batteries in aluminum foil to keep them protected from EMP weapons.EMP protection also means you have to have enough food, water, and medical supplies for your family to survive shortages and social breakdown. The inability to communicate while the government tries to restore power will look like a war zone scene on TV as people suffer from lack of drinkable water and good food.
